The rumours are getting stronger. Following on from last month’s news that the Brazil Advisory Rating Board (their version of the BBFC or PEGI) had rated BioShock: The Collection, a ratings listing from Taiwan has also included supposed promotional artwork for it too.
The three enormously popular dystopian games included; BioShock, BioShock 2 and BioShock Infinite provided some of the best gaming experiences that the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC had to offer. Collecting HD remakes of all three in one package for the PS4 and Xbox One (as well as the original systems) would surely be a massive seller.
2K has yet to confirm or deny the leak, but it surely seems to only be a matter of time. The only fly in the ointment is that the three games have just been added to the Xbox One’s backwards compatibility library, which might be a sign the collection is some way off. Or it might just be Xbox expanding their library with fan favourites, who knows.
If the collection is on the way, then there may be extra reason for good news. The current trend for remakes in the games industry (see Gears of War and Uncharted) is that remastered re-releases are usually a prelude to a new game, almost a reminder for gamer audiences. Should we be expecting BioShock 4 at some point in the near future? If so, who can possibly follow in the footsteps of Irrational Games?
